CEDIA 2016: Through a relationship with enterprise-network service provider Cenersys, Access Networks promises to be the “central station” of home networks, full of recurring-revenue (RMR) possibilities for CE Pros.

Through a partnership with network service provider Cenersys, Access Networks becomes the “first responders” to home-networking emergencies.

The security industry has their central monitoring stations (CMS), where third-party service providers respond to alarms immediately by evaluating the event and then dispatching the appropriate emergency responders as necessary.

Security dealers sell this service to their customers, and pick up recurring monthly revenue (RMR) in the process, with no ongoing effort, relying on the pros at the CMS to ably provide the security service.

WHY CAN’T WE HAVE THAT FOR HOME NETWORKING?

Access Networks, a provider of turnkey enterprise-grade networking solutions for home technology integrators, is introducing at CEDIA 2016 just such a service called Live Monitoring. The company is teaming with Cenersys, a leading provider of mission-critical remote-monitoring services for the enterprise, to launch Live Monitoring to the residential channel.

Access Networks CTO Brett Canter likens Cenersys to the “first responders” in the security domain, explaining the people and platforms that power Live Monitoring will respond quickly to any alerts and “often identify a solution for the integrator before the client is even aware of any problem in the home.”

To be sure, the home-technology integration channel has numerous networking vendors at the high end, many of which provide outstanding remote-monitoring and diagnostics tools for dealers.

It’s what the dealer does with those tools that makes all the difference.

Integrators might get alerts that a client’s system has gone awry, but do those dealers have the time, discipline, manpower and network acumen to prioritize and resolve those issues promptly … much less the ability to monetize the service?

Not really.

But a Cenersys-backed service allows end-users to enjoy fast response times from real networking pros, even without the customer knowing there was ever a problem.

“Dealers tend to have trouble monetizing network-monitoring solutions because they can’t promise immediate value to customers,” Feiner tells CE Pro. “With Access Networks Live Monitoring, they can.”

Canter calls Live Monitoring a “sophisticated and uniquely qualified central monitoring station for residential environments” backed by a “highly skilled engineering team responding to alerts in real time.”

With this post-installation service in place, Access Networks now provides a true turnkey solution for home-technology dealers – from the initial system design, product configuration and installation support to ongoing service that yields recurring revenue for the dealer.
